Our Tour of the School

Our theme for this Month is School. We learned all about the different people that work in our school including the care taker, teachers, principal, secretary and even the lollipop lady. Last week teacher decided to bring us on a tour of the whole school! We visited Mary who is the school Secretary. We know that she does so much work for the school, she prints out letters and rings our Mammies and Daddies if we are ever feeling sick. Here we are in her office!

We also visited the staffroom. This is a room where the teachers eat their lunches. We also visited 6th class. We noticed that the tables and chairs are a lot bigger up there. We got to ask the girls questions about all the hard work they do! We are really looking forward to being in 6th class in a  few years time!
We also visited Ms. Burke-Heneghan, our principal. She is in charge of the school. We sang her some songs and she was really impressed with our singing. Here are some more photos of us on our tour of the school

School Walk to Corkagh Park.

On Friday the 30th of September we had our annual school walk to Corkagh park. We were so lucky to have some of the girls from 5th class who helped us walk down to the park safely.

It was a long cold walk down to the park. We met many people along the way. We crossed the road with the help of the lollipop man and we saw loads of cars, buses and people walking dogs along our way. Once we got to the playground we were so excited!! We got to spend nearly an hour playing with all our friends in the park. We had such great fun and were all so so tired walking home, even teacher was very tired!! We had such a good day and we can't wait to do the school walk again when we are in Senior Infants next year!

Colours

During the month of September we were learning all about colours in our maths lesson. Teacher was so impressed at how good all the boys and girls were at naming all the colours. Here are some pictures of us carrying out a colour sorting activity in room 2. Teacher gave each table different colour toys and we had to sort them out on to the right colour page in our groups :)

September's Aistear Activities.

We have started a new play time called Aistear in our classroom. We do Aistear everyday and we are really starting to enjoy it. Our theme this month was 'Myself''. We have learned all about bodies and our families and have learned some new songs about ourselves too.
In Aistear we have 5 different stations, each group gets a turn at each station every week.

Our first station was Junk Art. Teacher gave us some recycled materials such as paper cups, egg cartons papers and lids. We had to use our imaginations to make what ever we wanted. We made rockets, robots, airplanes and even police helicopters. We are so creative in Room 2!!

Our other station was our Role Play corner. For our Role play corner this month we had our very own kitchen in our classroom! We took turns at being mammy, daddy , brother or sister and even got to mind our very own baby in room 2. We really loved this station!

We also had a construction station where we used big lego blocks to build houses, homes and towers. We also got to play with sand and use play dough.
Here are some pictures of us in action.

Our First Few days in Junior Infants

Welcome to Room 2. There are 21 boys and girls in our class and our teacher is Ms. Cleary. We are having such fun learning new things everyday. Here are some pictures of us on our first day of school.
